We are committed to decarbonizing all sectors of Minnesota’s economy, and this includes bold initiatives at the Capitol. I’m thrilled to share that we have bipartisan support at the Minnesota Legislature for our Clean Lighting bill — a crucial step toward removing toxins from light bulbs and safeguarding public health.
We’re also helping communities access clean energy funding, like our work in the Crookston neighborhood electrification demonstration project, which will improve approximately 720 homes with energy audits, better insulation, and electric appliances to make older homes as healthy and affordable as possible for residents.
And Fresh Energy’s Action Network has enabled thousands of Minnesotans to weigh in on clean energy solutions that will combat climate change and create healthier, cleaner communities across the state, like this spring’s Action Alert for the Minnesota Energy Connection transmission line. From Sacred Heart to St. Cloud, hundreds of you spoke in support of the transmission line, including Theodore, a former nuclear plant worker, who shared that he believes in both solar and fuel that does not pollute our air or water, and Janet’s heartfelt message that, “I want my children and grandchildren to have a safe, livable world.”
