Kicking off “Vision 2030: Fresh Energy’s Strategic Framework”

February 1, 2025, marks the official launch of “Vision 2030: Fresh Energy’s Strategic Framework,” which we were thrilled to debut at our Benefit Breakfast and on our website in October of last year. In case you missed it, check out this illustrated explainer video that dives into the details.

“Vision 2030” sets the strategic direction for our organization over the next five years and solidifies Fresh Energy’s climate ambition and dedication to equity while also creating a roadmap for driving down emissions. You can read more about the various elements of Vision 2030 here.

For more than 18 months, nearly 50 expert staff and board members contributed input and guidance toward the creation of this strategic plan, and we are incredibly proud of the path it lays out for Fresh Energy.

This comprehensive and inclusive process led us to reaffirm Fresh Energy’s Mission and Vision and update the Core Values and Guiding Principles on which we center our work. It also led us to three key findings that are especially relevant as we face a difficult landscape ahead:

  • Policy remains a crucial lever for change. With our new Strategic Framework, Fresh Energy is leaning into our proven role shaping, driving, and implementing carefully crafted policy solutions at the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission, Minnesota Legislature, and other high-impact arenas.
  • If we are to achieve a carbon neutral economy by mid-century, we must address all sectors of our economy. The framework charts a course for Fresh Energy to double down on our clean electricity, transportation, and buildings work and also turn our solutions-focused expertise to decarbonizing heavy industry and agriculture.
  • Racial and economic equity must be central to every aspect of our work. While we have a years-long commitment to equity, Fresh Energy’s new Strategic Framework elevates and embeds equity into how we design policies, drive change, work with partners, and function as an organization.
