While the discussions at COP28 will be wide-ranging, we already know that the current progress of countries’ carbon reduction commitments will be evaluated—this is the first “Global Stocktake” that will help align efforts on climate action. In addition to this, a key goal will be for countries of the world to build consensus to drive much more accelerated climate actions. This, as well as continued discussions around climate finance, mitigation, and adaptation and the role Minnesota and the Midwest can play in decarbonization, will be center stage at COP.
