Elected officials at the Minnesota legislature have been busy since the start of the session in February, and Fresh Energy has been following along as climate and energy bills move through committee hearings. This month, legislators passed a critical final deadline for the session. For a bill to be considered for passage this year, it had to get through all relevant committees by Friday, April 17.
While deadlines have passed, there are still a few weeks until the end of the session. As legislators prepare for the end of session, it’s important that they keep our state’s climate goals in mind as they make their end of session deals.
This session, Fresh Energy has submitted written and in-person testimony on issues like preserving our state’s ambitious building codes pathway, scrutinizing gas infrastructure investments, plug-in/balcony solar, and many others. Now it’s your turn to tell your legislators you care about these climate issues.
Legislators have the difficult task of making deals and getting bills passed in the tightly split legislature in coming weeks. Can you send your legislators a message today to remind them to:
- Reject amendments or provisions that threaten or weaken Minnesota’s landmark 100% clean energy law
- Scrutinize Minnesota’s natural gas infrastructure policies, and invest in innovative clean heat technologies
- Invest in green hydrogen and ammonia projects in St. Cloud and with the University of Minnesota
- Fund the popular geothermal planning grants program and proposed geothermal projects at Como Zoo and Macalester College
