Eric Fowler is a member of Fresh Energy’s Buildings department, and brings his expertise in energy codes, efficiency and electrification, and building science to Fresh Energy. He helped advance a 2024 law requiring near-zero new residential construction by 2038 in Minnesota, and sits on the Technical Advisory Group currently updating Minnesota’s residential energy code at the Department of Labor and Industry. Eric joined Fresh Energy in 2021 and played a key role in growing the Midwest Building Decarbonization Coalition, housed at Fresh Energy. Before joining the buildings department, Eric also supported Fresh Energy’s Public Affairs team and had a leadership role in advancing a new building electrification bill at the Minnesota Legislature in 2022.

Before Fresh Energy, Eric worked at the Chicago Jobs Council for six years managing external communications, and leading advocacy to reduce transportation barriers to employment. Founding and convening the Transit Table coalition, Eric advocated for public transit on behalf of community-based organizations and helped pass legislation ending driver’s license suspension as a collection tool for ticket debts in Illinois.

Eric has a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science from Gustavus Adolphus College. Outside of Fresh Energy, Eric enjoys baking, board games, and house projects at the small housing cooperative where he lives in Saint Paul. He and his spouse Reed have one dog, three cats, and way too many pictures of all of them.
