Fresh Energy’s science policy director, J. Drake Hamilton, was recently recognized as one of the Top 10 Climate Leaders of 2015-2016 by the Climate Reality Project.
J. Drake Hamilton’s actions on climate leadership led her to receiving the #6 award out of nearly 11,000 global leaders. At Fresh Energy, J. continues to inspire and encourage diverse audiences to support climate and energy policies that combat the threat of global warming and create a clean energy future. J. Drake Hamilton runs the Global Warming Solutions program at Minnesota-based Fresh Energy, an independent nonprofit that supports climate solutions that maximize economic development in the Midwest. J. estimates that she has given presentations to over 70,000 people, including to audiences at the US Environmental Protection Agency, Target Corporation, and 3M. She represented Fresh Energy at the international climate negotiations in Paris last year, and was invited to meet with President Obama at the White House for the roll out of the EPA’s Clean Power Plan. She was recognized by Minneapolis-St. Paul magazine as one of 100 Minnesotans “who make things happen.” J. has completed 84 acts of leadership since the beginning of 2015.
Since its establishment in 2011, the Climate Reality Project has trained over 11,000 individuals representing 126 countries on education initiatives related to climate change as well as continuing to develop a grassroots network to address climate change.
