Joe DeVito is currently co-founder and CEO of SolarStone, a Minnesota based solar development company. Prior to forming SolarStone, Joe was a VP of Development for RES Americas, where he developed approximately $2Bn worth of currently operational renewable energy projects. Joe’s 25-plus years of experience in the power industry includes leading the regulatory, political affairs, and public relations departments of two large independent power producers, energy marketing and deal origination, project management, and power systems engineering and operation. An expert in influencing electric market policy, Joe has experience in all of the operational U.S. Regional Transmission Organization (RTO) markets and in many of the non-RTO regions. With a deep understanding of the design and operation of transmission, distribution and generation systems, Joe has worked for a variety of companies ranging from investor-owned utilities to municipals, and within the renewable energy sector. Joe is currently chairman of the board for Wind on the Wires, a nonprofit organization focused on getting transmission lines constructed for renewable energy. He has also been a board member of a variety of trade organizations, including Electric Power Supply Association, Independent Power Producers of New York, and the Texas Wind Coalition. Joe earned his Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering from Worcester Polytechnic Institute. He has taken advanced power system engineering courses at Power Technologies Institute and has participated in a Cornell University Management Program.
