Fresh Energy’s 2019 Benefit Breakfast was our biggest yet, and most inspiring. Nearly 750 people gathered together to hear speakers Rhiana Gunn-Wright (New Consensus) and Jigar Shah (Generate Capital) have an exciting conversation about how and why we can transform our energy system while building prosperity and improving our communities. They brought a compelling and aligned vision of how policy change and business can drive down carbon emissions at the speed and scale of the problem, while growing healthy, equitable communities and successful companies.
We don’t have the luxury for slow and incremental change, gradually cutting our fossil emissions. We need change consistent with the plain physics of the problem. That means deep and fast cuts in carbon pollution, not just in our electric system, but in transportation, buildings, agriculture, and industry.
When we all come together, amazing change is possible. That was more visible than ever when we highlighted our children protesting around the world, who appeared in our event video and on the Benefit Breakfast podium with one clear message: join us, we can do this.
