Jina Penn-Tracy is devoted to improving the planet. Her current ventures include co-ownership of Centered Wealth, an investment firm dedicated to sustainability and impactful investing, as well as co-founding SYNCRIS, a pioneering climate tech company focused on simplifying and enhancing the accessibility of microgrids.
Her journey in activism began following a cancer diagnosis at 19, which inspired years of advocacy against chemical contamination within our environment and food systems. In 2004, Jina transitioned into financial advising, focused on utilizing the power and influence of money to make positive changes in the world. She has since carved out a niche in sustainable finance, frequently providing insights to major publications like Financial Advisory Magazine, The Wall Street Journal, and Investment News, as well as to Minneapolis’s local media outlets. During Climate Week 2020, she hosted an event under the auspices of the UN.
Jina also helped launch the Children’s Theatre Alumni Survivors Fund (CTA Wellness) in 2019, leading the board for four years. Her commitment to environmental responsibility extends to her volunteer work with the Carbon Divestment Coalition in Minnesota since 2014, seeking divestment of state pension funds from significant fossil fuel companies. Contributing on the Fresh Energy Board is an additional way to move the needle forward towards a sustainable and equitable future for Minnesota and the world.
Complementing her professional endeavors, in 2020, Jina and her husband built a Net Zero home near the Minneapolis Centered Wealth Office where they reside. A travel enthusiast with a green thumb for urban permaculture gardening, she relishes time spent with her two spirited dogs, Matteo and Guinness, and delights in watching her four adult children’s journeys.
