Weigh in on Otter Tail Power’s long-range plan

By |

Are you an Otter Tail Power customer? You can weigh in on Otter Tail’s Integrated Resource Plan (IRP) with the Public Utilities Commission (docket number 21-339). The plan lays out how Otter Tail Power will invest in electricity generation over the next 15 years.

Otter Tail’s plan includes some new wind, solar, and storage, but unfortunately still remains extremely dependent on coal power from the Coyote coal plant in North Dakota and the Big Stone coal plant in South Dakota—a move that will cost customers an estimated $500-600 million over the planning period, ignores federal and state carbon limits, will cause extreme climate damage.

Speak up and urge Otter Tail Power to end its heavy reliance on coal and plan for greater renewable energy and battery storage additions.

Fresh Energy will file technical stakeholder comments at the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission this fall, but the Commission and Otter Tail Power also need to hear from customers.

Use our easy online form to submit a comment to the Public Utilities Commission on Otter Tail Power’s IRP by October 30, 2023.
