Are you tired of spiking gas prices and the uncertainty that goes along with fossil fuels? One of the best ways we can tackle this issue in Minnesota is innovative deployment of geothermal technologies — like “thermal energy networks”— that can provide heat in our cold weather seasons, create jobs for Minnesotans, and produce no greenhouse gas emissions. So what’s stopping us?
Fortunately, the Minnesota Senate has the chance to pass a robust package of investments in geothermal projects, including thermal energy networks. They just need to hear from their constituents that these forward-thinking investments need to be a priority in 2026.
Among the highlights in this year’s package are funding for innovative geothermal projects right in our backyards (like in St. Cloud and at Como Zoo in St. Paul), planning grants to help local governments invest in tax dollar-saving geothermal projects, and our first steps toward a policy framework for broad deployment of thermal energy networks.
