Isabel guides Fresh Energy’s strategic imperative to decarbonize the electric sector. In this role, she advances the Clean Electricity team’s work to increase deployment of wind, solar, storage, and other carbon-free technology, phase out coal and fossil gas, and secure the grid infrastructure needed for a carbon-neutral future. As a technical policy expert, Isabel identifies and leads work on key dockets at the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission and supports our participation in the Midcontinent Independent System Operator’s stakeholder processes. Her areas of expertise include resource planning, plant commitment and dispatch in the wholesale market, Distributed Energy Resource (DER) interconnection, distribution planning, energy access and equity issues, and rate design for a highly renewable and electrified future.
Before joining Fresh Energy in 2019, Isabel worked in solar policy and advocacy, local government climate and energy planning, and environmental law. Isabel is a fellow and founding member of the Clean Energy Leadership Institute. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Columbia University with a degree in Political Science and Sustainable Development. Outside of work, Isabel loves enjoying the beautiful Minnesota outdoors through hiking, cycling, and working in her garden.
