Electric vehicles (EVs) are cleaner and more affordable than gasoline-powered cars—and they’re fun too! But many Minnesotans wonder how they really work here in the North Star State. Join Fresh Energy, Shift2Electric, and American Lung Association for a free educational workshop that’s unaffiliated with any automakers. We’ll have an honest conversation about EV technology, models available, advancements, emissions impacts, the realities of charging, and more. But don’t take it from us! Our panel of EV owners from around the state will tell you what it is really like to own, charge, and drive electric in Minnesota. You will also have an opportunity to get your burning questions answered during a fast-paced Q&A segment.
Thank you to Xcel Energy and Minnesota Power for being promotional partners for this event.
Janiece Watts is coming up on her one-year anniversary as an EV owner. She currently owns a 2012 Nissan Leaf and uses it to drive in the Twin Cities, and even to Mound and Balsam Lake, WI. Janiece’s favorite thing about her EV is not having to go to the gas station. “I love the heated steering wheel, the surprising roominess, and cruise control!”
Ben Passer is new EV owner and currently drives a 2019 Kia Niro PHEV which he uses for everyday errands around town. “My favorite thing is how smooth it feels, how quiet it is when driving electric, and how rarely we’ve had to get gas.”
