Seattle’s experience with electric buses

As transit agencies in Minnesota consider transitioning their fleets to zero-emission, battery-electric buses and providing clean, quiet transportation for our communities, one successful example to watch is King County Metro (KCM), metro Seattle’s transit agency. KCM recently deployed three Proterra Catalyst FC battery-electric buses after completing the most rigorous test of its nature ever performed in the industry. Simulating one year of operation and operating 24 hours per day over the 106-day period, the Proterra Catalyst vehicle achieved 32,545 total miles—nearly twice the distance of federal standards. During the 106-day period, the bus achieved 98 percent uptime.
