Privacy Policy

Fresh Energy places a high priority on protecting your privacy and data. This Privacy Policy was created in order to demonstrate Fresh Energy’s firm commitment to the privacy of our donors, e-publications subscribers, SMS and MMS text message subscribers, event registrants, and website users. This policy explains what types of information is collected over Fresh Energy’s website www.fresh-energy.org (and all domains/websites under our control—see section below on websites Fresh Energy hosts) and voluntarily in-person (e.g. at events) and how this information is used.

Information we collect

  • Information you voluntarily provide to us:
Individuals that register for events, complete a survey or form, donate online, and/or that sign up to receive Fresh Energy’s e-communications voluntarily provide us with contact information (such as name, phone number, and e-mail address). Fresh Energy also collects and stores information on events attended, publications received, donations/pledges made, as well as information provided by individuals in the form of comments, suggestions, and other written correspondence in emails and text messages. This information is stored in our cloud-based secured relationship database, Bonterra, also known as EveryAction (PCI compliant). We may use this information for specific, limited purposes. To view, modify, or “opt out,” either now or at any time in the future, you can log in to your personal Fresh Energy account, or contact us directly at info@fresh-energy.org or 651 225 0878.
  • Information we collect automatically:
We collect information that is sent to us automatically by your web browser. This information typically includes your IP address, the identity of your Internet service provider, the name and version of your operating system, the name and version of your browser, the date and time of your visit, and the pages you visit. Please check your browser if you want to learn what information your browser sends or how to change your settings.
  • IP addresses
Fresh Energy uses your IP address to help diagnose problems with our server, to administer fresh-energy.org, and for statistical metrics used to track website visitor traffic.
  • Cookies
Our website, fresh-energy.org, uses “cookie” messages to automatically help provide better services. They remind us who you are and your preferences for our website based on what you’ve done and told us before. The “cookie” is placed in your computer and is read when you come back to our website. Cookies let us take you to the information and features you’re particularly interested in. They also let us track your usage of www.fresh-energy.org website, so we know which parts of our sites are most popular. You can reject cookies or cancel them by instructing your Web browser accordingly.
  • Google Analytics.
We use Google Analytics, a web analytics tool, to better understand how visitors engage with our website. Google Analytics collects information anonymously and reports website trends to us without identifying individual visitors. Google Analytics reports what type of device an individual is using to view our site. Since data collected is anonymously we have the retention policy set to: “Do not automatically expire.”
  • EveryAction/Bonterra
We send our e-publications, Action Alerts, and event invitations via EveryAction/Bonterra. EveyAction/Bonterra uses web beacons in the emails sent via their platform. When we send emails, EveryAction/Bonterra tracks behavior such as who opened the emails and who clicked the links. This allows us to measure the performance of our email campaigns. To do this, EveryAction/Bonterra includes single pixel gifs, also called web beacons, in emails we send. Web beacons allow us to collect information about when you open the email, your IP address, your browser or email client type, and other similar details.
  • SMS/MMS
For SMS and MMS text message delivery, we use tools and platforms that integrate with EveryAction/Bonterra. When we send text messages, EveryAction/Bonterra tracks behavior such as who receives messages, who responds, the content of the response and who clicks links. This allows us to measure the performance of our text message campaigns.

How Your Information May Be Used
We use your personal information to provide you with personalized service; to send e-mail alerts to you; to send you SMS or MMS text messages; to answer your requests; to request and process your donations; to register you for events and send reminders; etc. We may also use your information to track visitors of our website. This lets us see which of our features are the most popular so we can better serve your needs.

How Personal Information is Shared with Others

We will not sell, trade, or share your personal information with other organizations or send mailings on behalf of other organizations. We may share your personal and account information with our third party services providers, including but not limited to our credit card processors, website developers and hosts, advertising agencies, and other services providers, whose use of your information is limited to providing services to us. We may disclose your personal and account information to respond to subpoenas, court orders, or other legal process, as required by law, or to establish or exercise our legal rights or defend against legal claims. Your personal information may be transferred to a successor organization if, for example, we transfer our operations to another organization or if we merge with another organization. If such a transfer occurs, the successor organization’s use of your personal information will still be subject to this Privacy Policy and the privacy preferences you have expressed to us.
