New climate report and the need for bold action in Minnesota

A new report from the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) has generated worldwide attention. The full report reflects an urgency of action: now is the time to accelerate our successful solutions to a changing climate. Fresh Energy believes Minnesota can and must play a lead role in energy solutions at this important time.

Our bold plan of action: By 2030, 60 percent of Minnesota’s electricity must be from wind and solar, and half of our cars and all of our buses should run on clean electricity. By 2045, we need 100 percent carbon-free electricity powering a completely carbon-neutral economy.

Read more about this vision, and how we aim to get there, in Fresh Energy Executive Director Michael Noble’s speech to hundreds of Minnesotans last week.
