Today, Mayor Melvin Carter announced the City of Saint Paul’s Energize Saint Paul initiative. Fresh Energy’s Ben Passer and Ben Rabe released the following statement in response.
“We applaud Mayor Carter and the City of Saint Paul for launching the Energize Saint Paul energy conservation initiative and Race to Reduce challenge program. These initiatives are a fantastic first step to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the city’s commercial and multifamily buildings, which account for 35 percent of all greenhouse gas emissions in Saint Paul.
Reducing our energy usage starts with knowing how much energy we are using, and then using that information to make smarter investments in energy efficiency in our buildings. Increased energy efficiency can lead to better building performance, reduced operating expenses, and increased health and comfort for tenants. This initiative is a win-win for both building owners and tenants throughout Saint Paul.”
