Getting there:
Please note that parking is limited near The Trailhead and spaces near the building are not guaranteed. This event would be a great time to carpool, take the bus or bike if you are able to.
Parking: The best parking option is nearby at Mortenson: 700 Meadow Lane N, Golden Valley, MN 55422. See below for detailed information and download a helpful map here.
- Mortenson Lot: Access this lot from Highway 55 by turning north on Meadow Lane just one block west of Theodore Wirth Parkway. Follow the road around a curve until you reach a fork for Mortenson and Animal Humane Society. Keep right to park in the Mortenson lot. Parking is not allowed at the Humane Society or in “Reserved” spaces. From there you can get to The Trailhead one of two ways:
- Option 1: Take the shuttle bus. Fresh Energy will provide a shuttle between the Mortenson lot and The Trailhead approximately every 15 minutes. The shuttle will pick up guests where Meadow Lane meets the entrance to the Mortenson parking lot (see the star on the map). Please line up along the sidewalk near the Mortenson sign to wait for the shuttle.
- Option 2: Walk the wooded trail. Follow the signs for a 5 – 10-minute walk by trail. From the Mortenson lot, you will walk through the Humane Society lot to a green space, cross train tracks, and follow signs along the dirt trail until you reach the paved Luce Line Trail that continues to The Trailhead. Make sure to wear sturdy shoes!
- The Trailhead North and South Lots: These lots are in front of The Trailhead and provide the closest access to the building, which also means they are usually the first to fill up.
Transit: The Metro Transit bus stops at The Trailhead building (Stop ID: 56977) and Plymouth Ave & Theodore Wirth Pkwy (Stop ID: 56978) when traveling on Route 7. Plan your transit trip here.
Bike: The Trailhead building is easily accessible from the Luce Line State Trail which spans over 60 miles west from Theodore Wirth Park. The Trailhead also sits on the 51-mile paved Grand Rounds Scenic Byway, which connects the Chain of Lakes, Mississippi River, Minnehaha Falls, and downtown Minneapolis riverfront to Theodore Wirth Park, North Minneapolis, and Northeast Minneapolis.
