Kim Norton and her family moved to Minnesota in 1990. An active community volunteer, she also worked part time focusing primarily on education related issues and non-profit organizations while raising a family. Kim was elected to the Rochester School Board in 1999. She served for eight years, including one year as Board Chair. Kim was elected to the Minnesota Legislature in 2006 and is just completing her tenth and final year—deciding not to run for re-election. Chosen as a 2016 Bush Foundation Fellow, Kim is redirecting her efforts to her community’s rapid growth and development as a result of the Destination Medical Center initiative. She is attending the Humphrey School of Public Affairs working toward a Master’s of Public Affairs degree with a focus on sustainable community development and is especially interested in energy issues.
