Buildings can contribute substantially to climate change through energy usage and carbon dioxide emissions. The commercial and residential building sector in the U.S. accounts for 39 percent of national carbon dioxide emissions per year—more than any other single sector. Please join Fresh Energy at the April Climate Connections seminar to hear from local leaders and discuss opportunities and challenges for the built environment related to climate change, including building design innovations and the expansion of policy strategies such as energy benchmarking and code updating.
Speakers include:
- Ben Rabe, Senior Policy Associate at Fresh Energy.
- Leah Hiniker, Energy Manager, Hennepin County.
- Patrick Smith, Research Fellow, Center for Sustainable Building Research, University of Minnesota.
This event is part of the University of Minnesota’s Center for Changing Landscapes Climate Connections seminar series, designed to create a forum for networking, exchanging information, and forging new or strengthened collaborations around climate change work.
