Public Utilities Commission protects customers from Minnesota Power’s aging coal plants

On June 9, the Minnesota Public Utilities Commission (PUC) voted unanimously to approve Minnesota Power’s 15-year resource plan, requiring additional coal retirements and additional investments in wind, solar, and energy savings.

Minnesota Power announces end of coal at Taconite Harbor 1&2 by 2020

Clean energy organizations applaud Minnesota Power for announcing plans to cease burning coal at its Taconite Harbor 1 and 2 old coal-burning power plant on Lake Superior’s North Shore near Schroeder, Minn. Minnesota Power will idle the plant in fall 2016 and cease burning coal in 2020.
