Clean Energy Director
This new senior management position will direct all Fresh Energy’s efforts to advance policies to expand the use of clean and renewable energy in the Upper Midwest. All of Fresh Energy’s clean energy initiatives will be under the management of this single high-level energy and policy expert.
The ideal candidate is both technically knowledgeable about clean and renewable energy technologies and experienced at influencing public policies and regulations.
Knowledge: Understands in-depth technical aspects of energy issues including clean energy technologies
Skills: Reacts quickly to opportunities and threats; has experience working within nonprofits and with nonprofit boards; can manage projects and budgets and supervise staff
Abilities: Holds a track record of influencing legislators and state agencies; weds technical energy knowledge with public policy implementation; writes grant reports
Minimum Qualifications: Bachelors degree; seven years of management experience; public policy advocacy work;
management of staff and budgets
Areas of responsibility
- Implementing the 2007 Minnesota Renewable Electricity Standard (RES)
- Managing Fresh Energy’s RE-AMP efforts
- Bird-dogging the Midwest governors’ Energy Security and Climate Stewardship platform
- Influencing the public discourse on energy issues in North and South Dakota
- Securing adequate transmission for renewable electricity
- Preventing major new polluting coal plants
