Martha C. Brand is a retired environmental attorney with expertise in water, natural resources, climate change, land use, and contaminated property issues. From 2003 to 2009, Martha served as the executive director for the Minnesota Center for Environmental Advocacy (MCEA), a nonprofit dedicated to protecting and defending Minnesota’s environment. Before joining MCEA, she served as a partner at the Minneapolis law firm of Leonard, Street and Deinard for 18 years, practicing environmental law and dispute resolution. Between her work at MCEA and Leonard, Street and Deinard, Martha completed a Bush Foundation Leadership Fellowship in conflict resolution. She currently serves on the board of the Mississippi River Fund. Martha earned her Bachelor of Arts degree from Wellesley College in 1971 and her Juris doctor degree from Boston University in 1974.
