“In a world where science impacts every aspect of life, we simply have to make it a more central part of the discussion.” —Shawn Otto

From climate change and public health to defense and the Internet, little-understood advances in science and technology influence almost every aspect of our lives. At the same time, scientists are frequently attacked by powerful vested interests, in politics and in the media. Join international science advocate SHAWN OTTO as he discusses his new book The War On Science with investigative reporter and environment correspondent DON SHELBY. Introductory remarks by Michael Noble, CEO of Fresh Energy.

This conversation celebrates the release of The War on Science and its compelling solutions to bring us to our collective senses, before it’s too late.

SHAWN OTTO is cofounder and producer of the United States presidential Science Debates, the largest political initiative in the history of science. He is a recipient of the IEEE-USA National Distinguished Public Service Award for this work. He is also an award-winning novelist and screenwriter, best known for writing and co-producing the Academy Award-nominated House of Sand and Fog, and for the LA Times finalist novel, Sins of Our Fathers, a literary thriller set in Minnesota.
