What’s next on climate and clean energy policy?

When the dust finally settles after the election, our newly elected leaders will need to finally tackle energy policy. Fresh Energy is partnering with the Will Steger Foundation to host several free public forums on clean energy, climate, and health across Minnesota this fall. In cities across the state, polar explorer Will Steger, Fresh Energy’s J. Drake Hamilton, and local hosts will discuss how unabated climate change impacts Minnesota, what’s at stake for our state’s economy, and the steps we must take on our path to clean energy.

Forums begin November 10 in Brainerd and continue in Moorhead, Rochester, New Ulm, St. Cloud, Winona, Willmar, and Bethel University in St. Paul. Discover how you can influence clean energy and clean air policies benefiting our economy and learn about Minnesota’s progress on clean energy, energy efficiency, carbon pollution reductions, and more.

Specific topics include the following:

  • Minnesota ranks fourth in the nation in the amount of wind power in our electricity mix. How does Minnesota’s leadership pave the way for future job-creating opportunities in wind and solar power?
  • For every dollar Minnesota utilities invest in energy savings, their customers save over five dollars on their energy bills. Can we do even more?
  • Minnesota has cut mercury pollution from coal-fired power plants by 90 percent. Learn how our state led the way for national action to protect kids’ health at low cost.
  • How will Minnesota meet our science-based goals to reduce the carbon pollution causing global warming?
