Energy Efficiency
Nearly 7,000 Minnesota families benefit from statewide energy efficiency project
The Center for Energy and the Environment (CEE) recently released a new Energy Efficient Cities report, summarizing a two-year effort to demonstrate the cost-effectiveness of innovative energy efficiency strategies in households across the state of Minnesota.
Highlights from the report include the following:
- twenty-one percent of the 6,922 participating households completed at least one recommended big upgrade (insulation and/or heating system replacement)
- efficiency programs generated $4.8 million in work for Minnesota insulation and heating contractors
- installed measures are projected to achieve $13.8 million in energy savings over their lifetime
Increasing household efficiency keeps more money in Minnesotans’ pocketbooks and creates more work for local employers. It’s easy to see why energy efficiency programs really add up!

This is incredible. I hope more states look into this.
